Bunya's class
Thursdays 7:30 - 8:45pm
Bunya Halasz has been a yoga practitioner for the past 12 years and has studied Oki Do Yoga since 2005, having completed his teacher training in Brisbane in 2008. His passion for Oki Do yoga stems from its roots in the natural world - working with the seasons of nature within and without. Bunya cultivates a range of skills in his yoga practice, being equally inspired by the practices of playfulness, stillness, mindfulness, centredness, order and chaos - valuing yoga practice as a discipline to assist us to connect to our peaceful and primal nature within the stresses of modern city life.
Bunya also works as a practitioner of Permaculture and Organic Gardening, working as an educator in Community Gardens as well as coordinating Yoga retreats that combine asana practice with earth art and gardening. This work involves an exploration of ‘Yoga’ in its broadest sense of ‘Union’ – with our bodies, our spirits our community and the natural environment that supports all of life. Bunya has also studied Hun Yuan Tai Chi and Chi Gung for many years and is a practitioner and student of Shiatsu Massage. His classes are a creative process of integration of these healing modalities within the practice of yoga.
Bunya’s life experience has shaped his yoga practice to become very sensitive to issues of spinal and musculoskeletal problems, as well as an appreciation of chronic pain and fatigue – supporting his students to listen to their own body wisdom, encouraging free exploration of natural movement and awareness in ones own body in their own way.
